FLOWER THERAPY

FLOWER THERAPY

Gosh you guy, Flowers are truly my love language.  When my husband would bring me ugly bouquets with no thought to what my favorite color of roses are, or because he had to on mothers day or something, and not "just because", I really took it as a sign that he doesn't love me or simply, just doesn't care about my love tank.  It took him some time ( 12 years) to finally figure out I love any color roses that look "antique-y", and that I love potted plants because they last longer and I can replant them in the yard.

This year I was done waiting on those surprise flowers and at the beginning of each month I go out and get flowers and just have an evening of flower therapy.  I usually put the pieces together after the kids are in bed and I can relax and enjoy the process.

My boys are now into helping me on my "flower" days because I think they see it brings me joy and they like to help.  The 2 year old is now picking me random flowers off the street and wants me to put them in a "cup".  Its cute.  I want them to grow up into wonderful men, with wives of their own and lavish them with flowers and beautiful surprises, always.

When I choose flowers I always, ALWYS choose a rose first.  It will be the freshest one, if you tap the tops they are hard and strong, not wilting. Then I choose another flower for an accent, here I went with a pincushion flower, I usually do about 3-4 blooms. ( so cute - we have a house in Florida on Pincushion st. ) Then, I like a filler flower, about 3 stems of them, and a greenery filler.  I love Eucalyptus, it smells amazing and I like that silvery green color, and they are pretty cool looking.

You guys! those beauties don't last long, a week or two max. It took my husband two months to realize that there are no flowers at the table for weeks and he actually likes them in the home.  So now he stops by and gets me fresh cuts throughout the month. Pretty awesome. Mama is happy, everyone is happy.
