Thanksgiving! Florida Edition.

I love fall. I love the lattes and the sweaters and the smell of fall, you know, the smell of decaying leaves. Yes. That’s my favorite part of all. The smell of fall, and looking outside and seeing the colors change on the trees, taking walks in in early afternoons with a beautiful latte or tea in hand and just welcome the warmth of the season. BUT, not here in Florida. We have constant sunshine that I love and there are no trees changing their color. sigh….Fall is my favorite time of year, I just need to plan a getaway next year and see those leaves next year.

This year I wanted to celebrate Thanksgiving the entire month of November. I mean, ugly Halloween wants to steel October, so I want to give November a Thanksgiving feel, everyday. I decorate my house in Fall and have warm candles going at all times during evenings. I even put on that sweater and make tea and curl up with a book and pretend I’m cold, and complain to everyone living up North that 60 degrees is absolutely freezing weather. I need a “Fall” getway ASAP.

Ok, so Thanksgiving started the first Sunday of the month of November. We threw a huge Friendsgiving party with seven families and their kids! The party was outside around the fire and it was lovely. Friends brought outdoor games, kids played on the swing and just ran around having a blast. I wish I took more pictures! We had all the Thanksgiving food with turkey and ham and all the fixing. The highlight for kids was the smores around the fire, kicking off the Fall season in Florida for all.

The following week we hosted another family for a Thanksgiving meal. A family that I haven’t seen in a while and our husbands never met. They were leaving on a church camp for the week of Thanksgiving, so they weren’t having Thanksgiving dinner, so that worked out perfect. The kids got to know each other and i got to make my favorite Thanksgiving side dish, Green Bean and Mushroom Cheesy Casserole!   that melts in your mouth. So good.

This week we went to a Thanksgiving Bonfire! There were so many families, I lost count and the beautiful words of Thanksgiving to the Lord around the fire were inspiring. We are truly blessed to be alive and living in the country, living in the Free State of Florida especially.

Tonight we head to a friends house and then we will end the month with Celebrating at church on Saturday with a “S’more Lord” worship around the fire! Thats going to be fun.

I’ll add to this post as we celebrate Florida Thanksgiving and recipe links as we go.

thanks for visiting! Happy Thanksgiving!
