Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures with my boys, natural living, things I love, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Rainy Day, Our List of Adventures. Rainy Day in Portland Activity. Family Activity On A Rainy Day.

We live in Portland, Oregon. It was almost 70 degrees and sunny yesterday, and today we have rain and in the 40's. The forecast predicts more rain to come, and that's ok, because there are plenty fun places to explore indoors. Or, that's something we had to discover real quick because some times there's just no end to the gloom. Tiredness, sadness, and just plain weirdness sets in and it's hard to shake when the sun just don't shine - for days on end. OH! and, my boys go totally nutty when they're inside for more then a few of their waking hours. We homeschool, so special activities are on the list weekly - if not daily.

This list is a never ending one, I'll add on as we go.

1) Go to the LIBRARY.  I did a post a few weeks ago about local libraries, and everything they have to offer. So many have special reading group days, some have themed activities like art, science, crafts and so much more. Here's a link to that post, click here

2) OMSI! Since we moved here we've gotten the OMSI family pass for the family and we go often. There are always new things to see, or new people to bring for a play date or just have fun. So hands on, the boys are entertained for hours. So much to learn and see. My oldest is getting older and is now starting to enjoy the chemistry lab and more hands on experiments. I love watching him. And the littles are in a world of wonder, every time. Click here foe OMSI website.

3) Children's Museum. Our children's museum always runs a special on either membership prices or daily ticketing discounts. If your kids have Oregon Health plan, then it's only $1 to get in. Always so much to do and explore. My boys love the hands on activities, and we can spend an entire day there, in just one of the themed areas.  Just don't forget to pay for parking ( I got a $45 ticket last time we went).

4) Play Cafe's. There are actually a number of these around town. We've been to a few in the last few years. Here's our favorites.

Play Date PDX We've been here a few times for Birthday Parties. They have private room to rent, pretty good food and adults have fun with their kids. We always have a good time here. Don't forget your socks!

G6 Air Park This is another place we've been to for a birthday party/ play date with a bigger group. My boys have a blast here. I just need to keep extra eyes on the little ones.

JJ Jump OH my goodness, my boys love this place. It has two different areas, one for bigger kids and one is the kids are a bit smaller. I have three and they all seem to be ok with all of the jumpy houses.

We liked Roseway play CafΓ©, but they Closed.

PLAY Boutique was fun for all my boys, ages 8, 3, and 1. The space has a bouncy house and play structures, and toys galore. There's a preschool attached to it, and the open to public play is during specific times, so check the website. This was a perfect place to take the kids with other moms and enjoy a coffee as the kids go bonkers in the play area.

I'll add on to this list as well. And have a blog post just devoted to indoor play/ cafe's as we go as well.

5) World of Speed Museum. This place was fun. They have a cool play room for the littles. I spent most of my time in that room because the toddler wanted to climb into all the classic cars out in the main exhibit. So I stayed in the fun play room as my husband explored the museum with our eight ear old. I gotta say, if we didn't get the passes at the library, we wouldn't have gone. So, check your local library for culture passes to local museums. We've utilized this perk so many times.

6) Gilbert House Children's Museum in Salem, OR. This place is so cool! It's three historic mansions with rooms filled with kids activities and themed play areas. Outside is the biggest treehouse/play structure. We went to explore our state capital one day and took the kids here. Read more on a post I did about our day in Salem Click here .

7) Dizzy Castle Is a magical place for kids. It's play structure like Play Date PDX. I love that this place has the baby area separate from the main plat structure area. Let the bigger kiddos run wild and play, and spend a little more controlled chaos with the baby. We've been here a few times for birthday parties and play dates.
